Congrats Nate!
On Friday Nate received his bachelors degree in Business. The graduation was really good. The prophet and his first and second counselors were there and the prophet even spoke. The best part was when Nate was getting ready to walk...On the back of the program I wrote a note that said "Cheer for Nathaniel Sommers PLEASE. Pass it on" then i just tapped the guy in front of my and handed it to him. He just laughed and passed it down the row...and it went from there. The note made it down three rows then some guy without a sense of humor, apparently, just threw it under his chair. So when they said Nate's name they said "Nathan" not "Nathaniel" so it threw everyone off and nobody cheered. But it was really funny. Anyway we are so proud of Nate he has worked very hard :)

I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So as I said a couple posts ago...I took the sophomore math proficiency's and I felt like I did pretty well on them. Well I got my scores today....and I PASSED!!! All three sections, reading, math, and science! I am sooo happy I don't have to worry about those again. But the cool part was is when I was in the office getting my scores, I asked her if the scores were just barely passing or what...and she said they were some of the highest scores she had seen all day! So I was really happy! :) YAY ME!!!

Sum it all up
Ok. I am sooo sorry everyone. I have been so busy I haven't even thought about my blog. So I am going to try and sum up the past month in one post....don't worry it won't be long. I'll only put the important stuff. So my cousin Joe, Brian and Lisa's oldest son, left on a mission to Monterey, Mexico, which now is flooded with swine flu disease. Nate and M.C. came down for the Clark County Fair and Easter. It was really fun to spend the weekend with them. Our dear Grandma Rebman became hospitalized for 8 days, but she is home now and doing much better. The past week Mom, Danielle, Macy, and I went to Disneyland and Seaworld. It was EXTREMELY fun. Macy LOVED Seaworld, Disneyland fazed her a little bit. We took her on a lot of rides including, Its a small world (loved), Mr. Toads wild ride (didnt like, but didnt cry), Pirates of the Carribean (DID NOT like), The haunted Mansion (DID NOT like), The Carousel (didnt phase her), The teacups (i think she liked these, but her Aunt Hannah was spinning her around so much she looked a little green and dizzy by the end of them) and Nemo's submarine (this was a funny story. There was a 45 minute wait line for this ride, so to make a very long story shorter, Danielle went up to the front of the line and asked the old guy running it if we could get on. He said yes. The bad part is the baby had just filled her diaper and I was sitting next to her on a submarine. I felt a little dizzy myself by the end of it. But she LOVED it) Then on Monday I went out for ice cream with Rafael, a Brazilian foreign exchange student, VERY cute, and he asked me to Prom. He literally just asked "so do you want to go to prom...with me?" i dont think he fully understood the asking process to prom. But hey who cares. haha. I think that has to sum it all up. Sorry again. I'll do better from now on. :)

Correction
So apparently I need a correction. It is "Scotland" not "Scottland" sorry Scottish people! And sorry Brady! :)
(oh ya. And apparently the map isn't spelled right either. So sorry again. But i'm to lazy to change it)
(oh ya. And apparently the map isn't spelled right either. So sorry again. But i'm to lazy to change it)
Oh P.S.

Ya. Sorry again. I just haven't posted for a while. So like a really good friend of mine that has been so awesome for the longest time, just got his mission call. He is going to Scottland. I am so excited for him! My mom say's she can just picture him standing on the top of a hill in a kilt and playing the bagpipes. It is funny because if you know Brady it's kinda true. When I saw the bagpipes on that last video it reminded me. But ya. I'm excited to write him and see what kind of accent he has when he gets home. :) Congrats Brady!
Check this out
So my seminary teacher showed us this video the other day. He said it made him think of Simon/Peter because he was killed in the Colosseum and he said this is what he must have been feeling. It was pretty awesome so i thought I'd share it.

Proficiency's are over!

Ok. Ya. I know that I have like 3 posts on one night. I just haven't had time to catch up. I've been studying for my sophomore proficiency tests. I felt like I did really good on them. Pretty much you get like 7 tries to pass it. Once your sophomore year, once your junior year, and five times your senior year. And if you don't pass by then, then you don't get to graduate you just get a certificate of attendance saying "hey. Thanks for coming to school for 12 years." But because I'm graduating early I get this year and then next year or else I'm stuck here my senior year just because of proficiency's. But luckily i felt really good about it today. So i think about a month before we get the results. Wish me luck. :)
Sister-in-law retreat
So the annual sister-in-law retreat is being held at our house this year. I can't wait to see all my favorite aunts!...for the one night i'm allowed in the house. And the only reason I am is because I have school on friday. But again i'm excited to see everyone.
nevermind
haha. I probably just won't say anything about it. It was a fun activity....the chicken murdering was just.......sad. :)

Wish me luck
So last year for youth conference we went on trek. It was a...memorable experience. This year for youth conference, since we've got to our valley, were settling our town. We have to kill chickens, make bricks for houses, milk cows, and plow fields. It's an overnight thing. I don't know if i'll survive. We'll see. Wish me luck. We'll see how it goes. :/

Coraline

Ok. So this movie was pretty much amazing. My brother, Nate, told me I had to go see it. So I talked some friends into going with me to a 9:30 show in mesquite last Friday night. This movie was AWESOME! It was like cute, in a spooky emo-ish way, but it was almost like a scary movie to. It was cool for older people but I probably wouldn't take little kids to it. It might be to scary. I LOVED it. So if you need an idea for a cool.....half birthday gift for Hannah. Coraline's the way to go. You have to go see it if you already haven't.

Ghost at the high school!
So my English teacher doesn't live in Logandale. He lives in mesquite and drives here every day. Today in class someone accidentally shut off the light, and then left it off. My teacher said "it's the ghost of the school" we all got interested and he told us that the school was haunted. Not believing him I went and got on the computer and of course if you type in official ghost of Nevada, it lives at our high school. This is what it says. Info says that when the Indians died they would bury their loved one's under their homes. (yes, that is true. There is a lot next to the school that say's "government property, Indian artifacts" and stuff) Houses being built near the school have dug up corpses when laying their foundation. So at the school on a quiet night when few people are there a dark shadowy figure is often said to appear. It has a tendency to follow people around (even through fences) and suddenly disappears. After everyone heard that they all freaked out. Haha....but what I want to know, is what people are doing walking through fences? :)

Comments made in 1955
I found these and thought they were funny....
'I'll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it's going to be impossible to buy a week's groceries for $20.00.'
'Have you seen the new cars coming out next year? It won't be long before $2,000.00 will only buy a used one.'
'Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging a dime just to mail a letter?'
'When I first started driving, who would have thought gas would someday cost 29 cents a gallon. Guess we'd be better off leaving the car in the garage.'
'Kids today are impossible. Those duck tail hair cuts make it impossible to stay groomed.. Next thing you know, boys will be wearing their hair as long as the girls.'
'I'm afraid to send my kids to the movies any more. Ever since they let Clark Gable get by with saying DAMN in GONE WITH THE WIND, it seems every new movie has either HELL of DAMN in it.'
'If they think I'll pay 50 cents for a hair cut, forget it.'
Hope it made you smile!

CHOIR
So, at my school our choir class is being cut, do to school budget cuts. I, simply won't stand for it. I have gone in and talked to the principal about it, we pretty much had a 45 minute discussion about him choosing to cut our choir class. He won't change his mind just from that meeting. I'm sending in an opinion paper to be put in the opinion column of our newspaper. Here is the paper I wrote.
School Budget cuts
Based on a recent article in the Moapa Valley Progress by Doctor Sam Moses characterizing the current reductions in school funding as a reduction is really a misrepresentation designed to garner public sympathy. The truth of the matter is that Clark County School district is being asked to live with a smaller budget increase of approximately fifty million over last year’s existing budget. In an economy where many are losing their jobs and homes, a fifty million dollar increase over last year’s spending does not rise to my definition of a crisis.
My opinion is first…More money spent on education does not always increase the quality of education. An example is, is that the state of Utah spends one thousand dollars per pupil less than the state of Nevada for education. At the same time Utah’s quality of education far surpasses Nevada in national rankings. On the other end of the spectrum Washington D.C. spends the most per student and is only ranked two spaces above Nevada in quality of education based on national rankings.
More important than the gross amount spent per student on education is where the money is spent. Clark County School district is installing GPS’ into school buses, they think nothing about spending twenty thousand dollars on landscaping we don’t need, and the school building designs are big and inefficient. Our school sends a full size school bus to Echo Bay six times a day to pick up somewhere around 30 kids. Also our school has just spent thousands of dollars painting a mural on the wall of a pirate ship and bought a whole new set of furniture to match…yes FURNITURE! Why do we need couches at school? We go to school to learn. We don’t even have a lunch time to go sit on the couches. The only logical time that we would actually have to spend sitting on those couches is during class time. This means we would be ditching class to sit on new couches the school just paid for. Is there any logic to that? At Moapa Valley High School the school district has approved tearing up and rebuilding the tennis courts, and replacing the fences in the baseball fields. What is the difference between playing on worn tennis courts compared to brand new courts, how many tennis and/or baseball professionals has Moapa Valley High School produced? What is more important the quality of our tennis courts, and our 4 foot fences, or the quality of our education?
Teachers deserve to be paid more. There is a saying “You get what you pay for.” Teachers should be paid based on merit, in essence teachers should be rewarded to excel. My understanding is that currently advanced degrees result in higher income. However, superior teaching skills if unaccompanied by an advanced degree result in no pay increase. So why should teachers try to do a better job? In my opinion this is a defect in the current compensation system that needs to be addressed if we are to improve the quality of our education.
The School district complains they need to make budget cuts, but in reality they need to prioritize where they spend their money based on obtaining the greatest educational opportunity for each dollar spent. In my opinion once they make providing the best education possible their number one priority and eliminate or reduce any spending that is not in line with the school our budget issues will resolve themselves and no longer be an issue.

The CUTEST thing ever!

So, a couple nights ago, Danielle was giving Macy a bath. And when Macy takes baths she LOVES to try and drink the water. But usually when she drinks it, she drinkes it like a puppy dog. She just laps it in with her tongue. But the other night she learned how to drink with a cup. Luckily I had a camera there!
The 49' chevy

So my truck that I get to drive is coming along pretty good. Were getting really close to finishing it. Hopefully by next week. It is going to be a surf truck. So we painted a mural (the flower) on the bed of my truck and the truck is going to be a bright blue color. On the side of the doors were puting "sommers surf shop est. 1949" it's going to be so cute. Here's some pictures of how it's coming along. Keep in mind...it will be BLUE!
REVERSE!

So reverse was this weekend. I know alot of places is called "The Sadie Hawkins dance" but here it is called "Reverse". Pretty much where the girl asks the guy on the date. So I asked Joey. We doubled with our friends Bracken and Bailey. On saturday (1-24-09) morning we drove to St. George and went to Laser Mania for the day. It was so fun. We played a couple games of laser tag, glow in the dark mini golf, and arcade games. It was a blast. During laser tag me and Bailey teamed up. The first game we found a balcony that was perfect, we could shoot people, but we couldnt get shot. So the second game we decided to be up there the whole time and try and win the game. But 2 minutes after we got up to our balcony and started shooting people these three nine-year olds found our hiding spot and snuck up behind us and started shooting. They KEPT on shooting, so at this point we were losing the game, they shot us like twenty times. But while they were shooting us they were like "this is our territory, get out!" haha. We were SO shocked that two sixteen year old girls got beat up by three nine-year olds. But it's ok. We found them later and were able to get back at them! But still, the fact of the matter was pretty sad. Anyway it was fun! I was happy I went with Joey!

HANNAH WAS ALMOST ARRESTED!
So friday night, Joey, my friends Alyssa, and Michael, and I were outside having a bonfire. We were getting ready to run pick up a pizza that we had ordered so me and Joey ran into the house to get the keys and a coupon wi'll the Alyssa and Michael stayed outside and watched the fire. After we grabbed the keys and walked downstairs I realized I had forgotten the coupon and so I told Joey to go get on the four-wheeler and I would be back in a second. I ran upstairs to get the coupon and at the same time Joey walks inside all calmly and says "ummm....there's a firetruck outside." Because Joey always jokes around and likes to play prankes I was like, "good one Joey, ya your reeeaaallly funny." he goes "no, i'm serious" so I ran downstairs, and outside by our barn was a firetruck, with it's lights on. So me and Joey jumped on the four-wheeler and raced up there. The head- fireman guy was talking to my other 2 friends asking them who had started the fire. Once Alyssa and Michael saw me coming they just told the fireman, "it's the girl on the four-wheeler. Get her." So by the time I got up there, the fireman looked at me and Joey and said, "which one of you started the fire." I just kinda like raised my hand he goes off on this huge thing on how it's soooooooooooooooooo illegal and how i'm supposed to call the fire station whenever were just "roasting marshmallows" so they don't dispatch 3 firetrucks to my house. I was literally shaking the whole time. Because he kept on talking about felonys and breaking the law. I honestly thought he was going to call the police and have me arrested. But the man was nice and he just let us off with a warning. Anyway so lesson learned. We will definately call the fire station next time were having a bonfire.
YES!
So Joey said "yes" to reverse on friday. It was sooo cute. He had candy bars with paper on them that said..."out of all the fish in the sea (swedish fish) i'm shocked (shockers) you picked a nerd (nerds) like me. So take 5 (take 5) and wash this white T. Then look (look candy bar) and see what your answer will be" So then there was a white t-shirt that had words written all over it like "mabye, we'll see, possibly, no?, yes? ect. So I threw it in the washing machine and when it was done washing all it said on the t-shirt was "yes" it was soo cute. I have plans already for reverse (it's this saturday) and i'm excited to write about it. But I want to wait till after so I can have pictures and stuff. :)

ARRESTED!!!
Ok. So today I went to school and in every class like 7 to 10 people were walking up and saying "Hannah, dude what happened?" I was soooo confused. I had no clue what was going on. Then in 4th period (the last period of the day) 2 of my friends that graduated 2 years ago walked in the classroom and sat next to me. I was happy to see them but I was confused. So then before I asked any questions they were like "dude I have to go to your house today and apologize to your parents." I was like what? So they told me about how they came to ding-dong-ditch our house last night and my dad started chasing after them. Then dad called the cops. Because he thought one of them was on drugs. So then the one, suposively on drugs, jumped the fence into our neighbors yard. Our neighbor who was camping out in tents in the back yard with his boys. He went inside and got his shotgun and his hunting dog and came out after them. Long story short they all ended up arrested but my dad told the cops he wasn't going to press charges and to let it all go. So that's the crazy story of the week.

Macy!
Well suprisingly I haven't had a picture of Macy on here for a while so I thought we needed an update! She got a new ballerina outfit the other day so I needed to take some cute pictures of her. She's four months old and she is getting so fun, she will just smile and laugh. Her favorite show to watch is Spongebob Squarepants. She thinks it is SO hilarious! Anyway so that's our favorite baby!
REVERSE!
So now that I am officially 16 I can officially go to my first dance! So reverse is on January 24. The theme is "Back to the 50's". So today I asked the person I really wanted to go with, Joey (pictured below). So I went to his house while he was at wrestling and stuck forks in the ground, with papers on them that said "Joey i'll fork out the dough if you go to reverse with me" then I made a double sized batch of chocalte chip cookie dough and wrapped my name in a little piece of tin foil and stuck it in the middle of all this cookie dough. Then I wrote another note and stuck it to a fork it said "Dig through the dough if you want to know the girl who wants you to go." And i have to give credit to Danielle (my sister) for helping me with the idea and taking me over to his house today and helping me set it up. She sacrificed having a bee on her foot just for me (it's a long story that will take a whole nother post just to tell) so thank you Danielle! Hopefully he say's yes. We'll see how it goes! :)
